PLEASE KEEP YOUR CAT INDOORS!!
The average indoor cat lives up to three times longer Disease--
Feline immunodeficiency virus and feline leukemia are only two of the diseases that can be passed from one cat to another. Once contracted, it will result in the eventual death of your pet. Cats are also much more
likely to come into contact with rabid animals such as opossums and raccoons. Poisoning--There are poisons in lawn and gardening chemicals. Poisons and bait may be left out to kill rodents or bugs.
In addition, outdoor cats can ingest auto antifreeze, oil, gasoline, poisonous plants and many, many other dangerous toxins. Parasites--Outdoor cats often contract fleas, ticks, ear mites and worms.
Traps--It is estimated that over 100,000 cats are caught in traps each year. Those who are not killed may be left to suffer for days before they are released. Often they will lose limbs from the injuries. Other animals--Both male and female cats may get into fights with other cats, dogs and wild animals. This often leaves them maimed or injured. Cats by nature are very territorial.
Cruel people--Many people take pleasure in torturing cats. Burning, tarring and feathering and drowning are just a few of the cruel ways people hurt cats. Animal dealers may collect outside cats to sell to research
laboratories. Traffic--Cars and cats do not mix. Many outdoor cats die prematurely from being hit by a car. Pet over-population--Millions of cats are euthanized each year because there
are not enough homes for them. SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR PETS!!!! |
